2020 Kia Forte vs 2020 Honda Civic

The 2020 Forte packs in everything you want from a sport compact sedan: advanced technology, sleek style, state-of-the-art connectivity, and space for everyone. Learn more about how it compares to the competitors in its class, in particular, the Honda Civic:

Cost*

The Kia Forte is less expensive than the Honda CIvic, with a starting MSRP of $17,790 as opposed to the Honda Civic's starting MSRP of $19,750.

Fuel Efficiency

With the Kia Forte you will make fewer stops at the gas station than with the Honda Civic, due to its tank size and fuel economy.

Handling

The Honda Civic has a larger turning radius than the Kia Forte, making it more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Warranty**

The Forte comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Civic's 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years and 24,000 miles sooner.

Kia's powertrain warranty covers the Forte 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Honda covers the Civic. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Civic ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

Safety

Both the Forte and the Civic have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front-wheel drive, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems and rear parking sensors.

The Forte's driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Civic doesn't offer a driver alert monitor.

The Forte has standard Active Headrests, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Headrests system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Civic doesn't offer a whiplash protection system.
